Nine members from the Orienteering team traveled to Camp Ernst KY for the 2023-24 Area 14/15 Orienteering Championship. The Maritime Freshman team placed 4th overall! Cadet Jayvon Robinson individually placed 3rd and Cadet Freddie Molina for placed 7th. They stopped in Cleveland on the way home and took a tour of the Coast Guard Cutter NEAH BAY, the cadets had a blast exploring the 140' icebreaking cutter.

Join our new student section the Maritime Maniacs this basketball season! Maritime Maniacs shirts will go on sale tomorrow for $10, this will give students FREE admission to all Maritime JV and Varsity games this basketball season. Our first HOME game will be December 4th starting at 5pm at Villa Maria College. This will be a WHITEOUT game for our student section. Come support your Maritime Commodores!

Thirteen Cadets visited Niagara University today. The Admissions Office provided a tour of the campus and discussed the pros of going to Niagara University. Cadet Eric Lebron (former WNY Maritime Battalion Commanding Officer) was one of the tour guides. He is in the Army ROTC program and gets Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve next year. The Army ROTC discussed scholarships and life after graduation. The university also allowed the Cadets to eat in the dining facility with the students on campus.

Nine Cadets from WNY Maritime helped American Legion Veterans and some Army JROTC Cadets from McKinley High School pick up flags at Veterans gravesites at Forest Lawn Cemetery this afternoon. There were over 8,000 flags and everyone finished within two hours. Great job from everyone

Twelve Cadets from WNY Maritime took time from their Friday off from school to go to the South Buffalo Safire Rehabilitation Center to help out in their Veterans Celebration. The center wanted to thank all of the resident Veterans. The Cadets did a Color Guard, handed out Veteran themed centerpieces to each Veteran, talked to the residents, and took photos with the residents. It was a great life experience for both the Cadets and the residents.

Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps, MSgt Washington, MSgt Schroeder, LCpl Marchand, and all of the Maritime graduates that wear the title of United States Marine.

Ten Cadets from WNY Maritime performed a Color Guard ceremony at Hospice Buffalo this morning. This was part of Hospice Buffalo’s Veterans Celebration Ceremony. The Cadets did an amazing job and impressed everyone.

As a result of Buffalo Public Schools revising their calendar for November 7th, we will not be having students in-person for school tomorrow, but they will be responsible for a "remote learning day." All candidates and cadets should check Google Classroom for all of their assigned classes before 2pm and complete the assignments for each class as required by the teacher(s). Instructions were also emailed out to all cadets through their school Gmail account.

Yesterday, 11 cadets traveled to the North Atlantic States Council of Carpenter's Training Center in Rochester for an open house for those high school students interested in a career in the trades. They learned about welding and experienced some hands on work with medal studs used in commercial construction and concrete molds used in the foundations of large construction projects.

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDANT TO CADETS at the High school... Based on the leadership of some of your fellow cadets and today's overall good behavior I have authorized a dress UP for the holiday for tomorrow. With that being said, remember that this is a privilege and if you do not follow the dress code (listed below) you will lose this privilege for future dress-downs. Police yourself and help others to act right so we can enjoy more days like this! Below you can see our dress down rules. In addition to this please do not wear any masks, no violent or distracting props, no revealing costumes, no offensive costumes, no hats or anything that blocks student's views. You will be sent home to change and be given discipline. DO NOT RISK IT. Good rule of thumb if you have to ask if it’s ok or appropriate for school the answer is likely no it is not. Pick something else for school. ● No caps or hats are to be worn in school (except on authorized “spirit days”). ● No wave caps or scarves. ● No sunglasses or novelty glasses are to be worn in school. ● No chains, no studded belts. Necklaces may be considered chains based on the size of the links. Characterization of whether a necklace is a chain will be made by Maritime Staff. ● No clothing or jewelry connected to gangs. ● No fraternity/sorority beads, jewelry, or other associated paraphernalia. ● No winter jackets may be worn in school. Hoodies and “light” jackets are authorized. ● No pajamas (except on authorized “spirit days”). ● No shorts (unless authorized by Commandant). ● No yoga pants, or leggings unless worn under a dress, skirt or pants. ● No clothing with references to illegal drugs or inappropriate messages which are contrary to our Honor Code (i.e. “No Snitching”). ● No clothing revealing breast cleavage or bare midriffs; males must wear trousers at their natural waist, no butt cleavage or underwear exposure (absolutely NO “sagging” will be tolerated. ● Clothing must be appropriately sized; not excessively tight to reveal body parts, nor excessively loose, allowing clothing to fall off the body. ● Skirts must reach the ends of the fingertips with arms extended at sides. ● No sandals, slides, open-toed shoes, or shoes with excessive high heels (this poses a safety issue and all Cadets must be able to walk normally). Crocs are authorized. ● Clothing may have rips, tears, holes, frayed edges as long as no skin or undergarments are showing

The Orienteering team had practice at Chestnut Ridge Saturday. Eight Cadets participated and a veteran that graduated last year met us at the park to assist. Thank you for your support Jacob Morgan! Our goal was to find three points but the team was quick so we traveled on to find the fourth! Confidence and knowledge within the team is growing and it surely showed! We ended practice with lunch at Mongolian! 

Students from the advanced art class participated in the Buffalo AKG Art Alive Celebration event this afternoon. They created a tableaux of Edward Ruscha's 1963 "Electric". The kids had a great time being photographed and complimented by visitors on their piece and were even told they were the happiest group seen that day!

Come on out to the final Seahawks Football Game of the season tomorrow, Saturday October 28th, as your Maritime-Tapestry Seahawks take on the Cheektowaga Warriors! Kickoff is at 12pm at Cheektowaga Central High School! Come cheer on your seniors, Ray Embler, Johnny Williams, Jazair McGee-Beavers, Mikhari Mims, Jason Span, Anthony Martin, Mekhi Hawkins, and James Martin, as they lead the Seahawks to victory!

Yesterday, cadets from Maritime competed in US CyberPatriot Round I.   CyberPatriot is a national youth cyber education program created the Air and Space Forces Association to inspire students toward careers in cybersecurity or other STEM programs.   The Cadets are competing against over 5,000 other teams throughout the world including 336 Navy JROTC Units.   There is another round next month and then State Finals in December
